Getting your Boat ready for Spring
Make sure that your boat is ready to run this spring 2010! Our staff will ensure that your engine(s) are running optimally and that all your mechanical and electrical systems are in order to give you a "worry-free" boating season.

We would like remind our customers that our staff spends much of it's time on courses during the winter. This is our opportunity to upgrade our knowledge and hence to make certain that we implement the latest technologies and ideas when working on your boat. Winterizing your boat is best done by the professional. Our technicians at Harbour Marine are trained and highly-skilled. They will make certain that your boat is protected during our Canadian winters.
Here's how Harbour Marine can care for your boat
- Inboard Engine(s) anti-freeze and fogging
- Generator, anti-freeze and fogging
- Stern Drives
- Outboard Engine(s)
- Fuel Tanks
- Bilges
- Fresh Water System
- Head
- Oil change for engines and generator
The owner should also take care of a few things
Interior
The following should be removed:
- Valuables
- Electronics
- Lines
- Personal floatation devices
- Fire extinguishers, flares and Fenders
- Be sure to check the expiration dates of flares
All of the above items should be cleaned carefully and stored in a safe place.
- Make sure all your lockers and drawers are cleaned
- Cushions should be turned up on edge (for circulation) or removed and taken to a dry place
- Refrigerator and Freezer should be cleaned and left open
- Keep your boat as dry as possible. There are various products such as “No Damp” etc., that can assist you with this.
Outside
- Make sure the hull is cleaned and all barnacles are taken off the props and rudders, trim tabs etc.
- Clean all your strainers
- Open seacocks to allow water to drain
- Open bilge drain to empty the bilge
- Remove your batteries – or trickle charge them – or charge them at least once a month
- You can even wax your boat if the weather is good
- Shrink-wrapping can be arranged through our office. If not, cover your boat well with a good tarp.
